Cesar Chavez was an American labor leader and civil rights activist. He co-founded the National Farm Workers Association with Dolores Huerta which later became United Farm Workers labor union. Prior to becoming a labor union, UFW was more like a mutual-aid society operating at the intersection of labor rights and social justice. Chavez is an influential labor organizer who was inspired by non-violence tactics employed by Mahatma Gandhi and Martin Luther King Jr.
