The genesis of St. Nick’s Alliance’s community development work originates with the parishioners of St. Nicholas’ Roman Catholic Church came together in the mid-1970s to respond to neighbors in need. Since those neighbors in need were left homeless due to a fire, they have embarked on a movement addressing the economic, housing, and social needs of North Brooklyn. They have developed and managed over seven thousand units of affordable and supportive housing, offered workforce development for over a thousand local adults, and provided specialized educational services to over three thousand youths.
