The Yale Urban Design Workshop (YUDW) is a multidisciplinary research and design center located at the Yale School of Architecture in New Haven, Connecticut. The workshop was founded in 1992 by Professor Alan Plattus and is dedicated to improving the quality of life in urban areas through innovative urban design. The origins of YUDW can be traced back to the 1960s and 1970s, when Yale School of Architecture faculty members began to engage in urban design projects in New Haven and other cities. In the 1980s, this work was consolidated into a formal program, which eventually became the Yale Urban Design Workshop.
