The Development and Services Corporation (D&S) was created alongside the Bedford Stuyvesant Restoration Corporation (BSRC). Whereas the BSRC’s board was representative of the community, the D&S was composed of high-profile white figures in business and philanthropy recruited by Robert F. Kennedy. Their influence brought sizable businesses like IBM into the Bedford-Stuyvesant neighborhood before the D&S merged with the BSRC at the end of the 1970s.
