The Fifth Avenue Committee was established in 1978 as a nonprofit organization to advance economic and social justice via advocacy, affordable housing, and training. Serving Park Slope, Red Hook, Gowanus, and Sunset Park in Brooklyn, they have developed and preserved thousands of units of housing, organized neighbors to prevent evictions, and represented local desires and interests to elected officials. Recently, the FAC has been active in the Gowanus rezoning process in South Brooklyn.
