Sviridoff served as the Vice President of the Ford Foundation’s National Affairs department between 1967 and 1980. He advanced the Ford Foundation’s push towards establishing programs responding to the urban crisis, some of which became independent nonprofits like the Vera Institute for Criminal Justice. In 1980, he left the Ford Foundation to become Local Initiatives Support Corporation’s (LISC) first President and establish the organization’s support for community development.
