The National Urban League emerged as a pivotal institution in the heart of America’s sociopolitical landscape. The league was an amalgamation of three organizations: the Committee on Urban Conditions Among Negroes, the Committee for the Improvement of Industrial Conditions Among Negroes in New York, and the National League for the Protection of Colored Women. Its primary aim was to assist African Americans in securing economic self-reliance and civil liberties.
